Pirate goods in the EU are embraced by many consumers
EU consumer are not anymore ashamed to purchase fake goods. According to a survey consumers purchase fake products deliberately. The harm caused to genuine producers amount to billions euros. Thus, only 28% of respondents in survey have never bought any counterfeited goods for over the last 36 months. Mainly young people are interested incounterfeits. The main reason is the product’s price.
they don’t care about manufacturers’ reputation. Nine out of ten consumers are not afraid to admit they have on them counterfeited things. The survey organizers confirm that fakes became an a common phenomenon among the population.
As for the economy, pirate products already are a real threat. (a German company) researches we will see that, European companies lose daily ?35 000 000. That is 2% of revenues. Add here the means spent on supervising counterfeiters and maintaining the company image. Not only deluxe products are counterfeited, but pills as well, semi-finished goods, substances for washing machines and shower gels.Forecasts for the nearest are not consoling - fake products will cover every European market.
My opinion is the following: I am indifferent against fake goods. Is there a reason I don’t have to buy a pirate product if it’s as attractive as the original one. True, it happens that it looks silly if someone notices it is a fake. But, the value I pay for them is exactly what I can afford.
